The Worms and Video

The Worms and Video time-lapse, 2021

The Worms and Video, 2021

In this series of The Worms they are to be viewed as extensions of myself, exaggerated limbs and breaths. Each video is both a mediation and a dance. A conversation from one body to another, on needs and desires. As I move around the bed the position of the worms enabled or inhibited movement. This process was both chunky and smooth, awkward but seamless. Throughout the videos the worms begin to breathe with me as I lay beneath them. In other shots they take over, claiming my breath as their own while burying my body. The time laps allows for a more immediate (snapshot) understanding, while the longer video is far more intimate and personal. These videos invite you into a vulnerable moment, space and conversation. In this project I am using the worms and my body as navigational tools in order to challenge the borders of comfort and capture.
